Wish all you guys a very happy new year. Instead of wishing a prosperous and joyful year i would prefer wishing every indian a peaceful and an awakened new year. I pray to Allah that this year we dont happen to see any communal or political instigated riots nor any terror attacks.
I pray for the members of the martrys of the terror attacks that God gives them courage and strength to carry on in life inspite of the irreplacable loss they sufferred. I never believed in new year resoultions coz i felt if u are really passionate about something you can make it happen any time of year and not wait for the new year to initiate on it. I felt that decisions taken just for the sake of it or in a haste widout understandin the benifits or drawbacks mostly backfire. Its like a soda bottle. For the initial few seconds it erupts like a mini volcano but after those 5 seconds of fame are over no matter how vigourously u shake it fizzles out till a point of no return.
But 26/11/2008 has brought a lot of change. A change in the mindset of virtually every one who was in one way or the other affected by those brutual massacre. So for this year lets make a resolution. Lets rise above the individual goals like kicking the butt, working out vigourously, studyin regularly, etc etc. This year lets resolve to vote. Lets resolve to co-operate wid the govt officials, resovle not to bribe no matter how meagre the amount is or no matter how important the task is. Resolve to not to break or bend any traffic or civic rules. Not to use contacts to get out scot-free inspite of committing a crime. Lets resolve not to forget the brave heroes who risked and sacrificed thier lifes to save numerous others, pledge to help the kith and kin of them, a lot of those were the lone bread-winners of their families. Resolve to use RTI to keep a tab on funds and the policies of govt, pledge to bring to book cabbies and rickshaw drivers who refuse to ply or short change us, use consumer rights against shop keepers who sell cold-drinks and mobile recharges at prices more than the MRP.
Change is coming and the best example of it is Omar Abdullah becoming the CM of Jammu and Kashmir. Lets hope Kashmir aint terrorised any further, the displaced pandits and able to go back to thier motherland and Omar is as passionate bout development of the country as he was in the parliament during his impromptu speech during the Nuclear Agreement Vote of Confidence. Victims and heroes of Kargil, Godhra, 92 riots and the consequent 93 blasts, the serial train blasts are all forgotten. The bus conductor of a Blue Line bus in Delhi in which a bomb was placed during the serial blasts risked his life by flinging the bomb out of the window bare-handedly was the face of bravery and courage those days. Today he is fighting for his legitimate dues from the same govt which garlanded him earlier. Lets pledge this doesnt happen this time!
